Caller ID
When someone calls your FamilyLink
phone, the Caller ID information is sent as the phone is ringing. To use this function,
you will need a telephone with built-in Caller ID capability or an external Caller
ID box with a display.
When you make a phone call, your
phone number will be sent along with your call so the recipient can identify you
as the caller.

|
Caller ID blocking
Before placing a call, you can disable the sending of Caller
ID for that call.
If you never want to send caller ID, you can disable the
sending of Caller ID for all outgoing calls.
|
|
Call return
Call Return lets you return a call to the last person who
called you without having to know their number, look them up in a directory or check
the caller ID.

busy
Use this option to send your calls
to a different destination when you are on the phone. By default, a call will go
to your voicemail if your number is busy, but you can choose up to three different
numbers to try.
To forward calls to a PSTN number,
you must be subscribed to one of the FamilyLink calling plans, and these calls will
be billed at your plan rates.

location. You can enter one number, or up to three different phone numbers, and
they will all ring together.

Do not disturb
This feature allows you to send calls
directly to voicemail. Your phone will not ring when this feature is active.
|
|
Call blocking - anonymous
When you turn on this feature, your FamilyLink phone will
not accept a call from anyone who does not display valid Caller ID information.
This eliminates a number of telemarketing calls, but can also catch wanted calls.
The caller will hear a message stating that you do not accept calls from anonymous
callers. To get through the caller would have to enable Caller ID.
|
|
Call blocking – all incoming
When you turn on this feature, all incoming calls are blocked
and the caller will hear a message saying you are not accepting calls at this time.
This is different from Do Not Disturb, in that the caller will not get voicemail.
|
|
Call blocking – specific numbers
This feature will allow you block calls from a list of
specified numbers. The caller will hear a message saying you are not accepting calls
at this time. The calls will not go to voicemail.
You can also use this feature to block a specific number
from being called from your FamilyLink phone.

Voicemail
Every FamilyLink number comes with
a voicemail box. You can retrieve and review your voicemail message two different
ways.
Email – you can have all of your
voicemail messages sent to you by email. The subject line will show you the caller
ID information of the caller and the size of the message. You can then listen to
this message on your computer through your speakers or headphones.
Email notification only – you can
choose to receive a notification that you have voicemail without the message attached.
The subject line will show you the caller ID information of the caller and the size
of the message. This is very useful if you will be checking email from a dial-up
account. You can then choose to have the message delivered to you, delete the message,
or listen to the message through your phone.
Phone retrieval – You can also listen
to your messages through your phone. Just dial 2999 and follow the prompts. If you
choose to have you messages stored on the FamilyLink server for phone retrieval,
up to five messages can be stored.

Conference rooms
Every FamilyLink user has a personal conference room where
up to five Internet phone users can all talk together. You manage your conference
room with a Personal Identification Number (PIN). To enter your conference room
another FamilyLink user will dial 1-482 followed by your FamilyLink phone number.
You control who can use your chat room by giving out your
PIN. You can change your PIN at any time through the web interface.
